Graduation is the evening of May 21, 2024!!
Dates to highlight and remember:
- April 10th, 2024 (6:00 pm) Senior Honors and Awards in Auditorium
- This will be an invitation only event for recognized seniors and family. Please mark your calendars if you applied for a SMN based scholarship. We will invite those being recognized and more details will follow when those Honors and Awards are finalized.
- May 17th, 2024 Seniors’ Last Day
- May 21st, 2024 (7:00PM) Graduation
- Graduation is planned to take place outdoors at the SM North District Stadium. A move indoors or a makeup will be determined if inclement weather causes a change to the original schedule.
If you are interested in speaking at graduation, information will be shared in your ELA classes regarding how to pursue this opportunity.
Honor your SMN Senior with a Legacy Brick!
Leave a Lasting Legacy at Shawnee Mission North! Legacy Bricks are a great way to honor graduating seniors!
For a tax deductible donation of $45, an engraved brick will be added to the Legacy Brick Courtyard, located just outside the SMN stadium/pool entrance.
Please complete a separate form (attached) for each brick ordered. Payment can be made to the SMN Booster Club by check or credit card. If you have questions, please email Paula Blood at pdblood@sbcglobal.net.
Seniors Last Day- Currently scheduled for May 17, 2024. Plan on a final at 7:40 and then MacBook return, Checkout, receive caps/gowns, a senior meeting, etc. Probably done with all activities around noon. Senior Finals Schedule will be released soon.
Graduates will receive caps and gowns on the Seniors Last Day.
Tickets
- Graduation is free to attend. We anticipate an outdoor graduation in the stadium. Currently, tickets will only be needed if the ceremony needs to be moved indoors, however we wanted you to be aware and begin planning for any possibilities.
Graduates will have a limited number of guests allowed at the ceremony. Each senior has been provided 6 tickets to share with family or friends for admission to the event. The tickets are for each individual that attends. (Similar to a Royals game if you have a very young child that will sit on your lap, that child will not need a ticket). Please distribute these to those who will use them if necessary.
There will be more communication coming as graduation approaches. Please be aware of a few items that could be road blocks for graduating.
- Academic Achievement: It is extremely important that every Senior knows where they stand academically and the classes they must complete to satisfy all graduation requirements. Check with your counselor if you have concerns.
- Financial Accounts must be in good standing: Please know that the current year fees must be paid in full to be able to participate in the graduation. Previous years and/or outstanding fees must be paid in full to receive your diploma. To avoid any issues please make sure you pay all current year fees no later than Thursday, May 4th.
- SM North has been and will continue to send email notices to those with unpaid balances at the beginning of each month.
- You can reference your fees and payment history on your Skyward account.
