Due to the late start of many K-12 schools, JCCC is extending the enrollment deadline for College Now and Quick Step Plus courses. The deadline to enroll in a College Now or Quick Step Plus course will be October 16 for all students. Enrollment guides for College Now and Quick Step Plus are on our SMN website and the SMN Student Services page.
To assist students during the COVID-19 pandemic, our faculty has created several pathways for students who need to enroll in College Now courses that have a placement test requirement. For courses that require an ACT score for English, students may now place into the course with a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher. For courses that require an ACT Reading score, students may now place into the course with a high school GPA of 2.8 or higher. Students who wish to enroll in a math course will still need to provide evidence of meeting the ACT requirement or achieve an appropriate score on the Accuplacer test.
For a complete list of how students can place into their courses, go to www.jccc.edu/CollegeNow. The link in Step 2 includes instructions on how to request a placement waiver if they meet the placement requirement with an ACT score, AP test score, or high school GPA. For those who do not have a qualifying test score, this web page also provides a link for students to sign up for an appointment to take the Accuplacer test.
Due to required social distancing measures in our Testing Center seating will be limited. It will be very important this year for students to schedule an appointment to do their placement testing early and not wait until the enrollment deadline week.
Quick Step Plus
Students who have an ACT Math score of 22 or higher may request a placement waiver for Quick Step Plus College Algebra by going to www.jccc.edu/QuickStepPlus. Students who do not have a qualifying ACT Math score will receive directions from their instructor on how to take the ALEKS placement test online.
Please be sure to complete all steps in the enrollment process. If a student obtains a placement waiver, student will still need to log in to MyJCCC, register for the course, and pay tuition.
